This past weekend a few friends and I went on our annual camping trip. In previous years we had a base camp and went exploring during the day and would come back to base camp at night. This year, we just camped wherever we were, made no plans as to where we were going to stay. I’ll take you through the trip with some of the photos I took along the way.
First we woke up early and started our trek north. This Jeep was my friends who came up with us.
After we got up we went to Whitefish Point. I didn’t care for any of my shots of the lighthouse but I did have fun along the shoreline here.
After Whitefish Point we started our trek off-road and headed to WildCat Road which is a very challenging and sandy road. Here we found camp on the shore of Lake Superior
I was working the rocky shoreline here with my camera.
After being cloudy and rainy most of the evening and into the night, we got about 30 minutes of beautifully clear skies.
The next morning we got into our Jeeps and started off to Crisp Point Lighthouse
Then made our way through the burned down forest
on our way to the Two Hearted River
After there we stopped off in Grand Marias and went to Lake Superior Brewing for some grub. While we were there I snapped a picture of the Grand Marias Lighthouse
We made camp on the shore of Lake Superior again and woke up the next morning to cover the ground to the Garden Peninsula to visit the Ghost Town in Fayette
And on this night the sky was perfectly clear all night so I went on a Milky Way photography spree
And of course I had to get a picture of the clowns who came with me.
The next morning before we left we stopped off at Kitch-iti-kipi which was amazing. In the picture below, you are looking 45 feet to the floor of the spring. The trout were huge too
Well that’s all. This was just a brief rundown. I’ll add more detailed info about some of the other shots later on, just wanted to give the rundown of the trip now.
